1. Illinois is a fascist bastard state that does not allow interactive gaming. Interactive gaming is any game where the player does not compete against the “house”. Examples of interactive gaming would be “Texas hold ‘em”, “Omaha”, and “seven card stud”. Examples of non-interactive games (games where you compete against the house) are “Slot Machines” and “Black Jack”.
2. Missouri is a nice freedom loving state that allows interactive gaming. (And guns too, read my post about six flags!)

Since those 2 things are true, I took the time out of my drive back from visiting my friend to stop by a casino in St. Louis and play some $3 / $6 Texas Hold ‘Em. (If you don’t know what $3 / $6 is, don’t worry; it is just the betting structure of the game. All starting bets must be in increments of $3 with later bets being in increments of $6.) I cashed in for $100, sat down at a table and started playing. It had been about 8 months since I had played Hold ‘Em at a casino, and it was damn fun. After 3 hours I walked out with $227 and a smile.

Which brings me to Monday; I had a “partypoker.com” account where I had played online Hold ‘Em for play money. But with an extra roll in my pocket and a cash game as far away as my computer I decided to go online with real money and test my mettle. (And Jason thinks he has a gambling problem!) I cashed in for $100 and tested the waters playing $.50 / $1.00 Texas Hold ‘Em. Later in the evening I moved up to $1 / $2 Hold ‘Em. All told I made another $50 there. I think I should quit where I work and play online full time what do you think? (That was a joke by-the-way. I could see someone thinking I was serious.)

The first is that when I played poker at my buddy Steve’s house, I was unbeatable. Having nothing to do with any real poker proficiency, I was getting every card I needed to make a full house at least every 4 hands. It was incredible and I dominated almost the entire night. For all my poker buddies reading this blog: You guys suck! You only wish you were as great a poker god as I am! (Are you on tilt yet?)

The second thing that happened is I gave up on party poker for the time being and tried out “full Tilt Poker” online. The UI is a little harder to get used to than Party Poker’s, but I think the randomization of the cards is closer to being random at “Full Tilt Poker”. Not that I don’t belive Party Poker’s claims to be random, I just have never seen so many pairs on the flop in the real world like I have at Party Poker.
